Corona Discharge Treatment
 


Plastic has long, homogeneous molecular chains that form a strong and uniformed product.  It is not possible to print, coat or laminate plastic, unless the surface energy is measurably higher that that of the ink or glue used.

The electrical Corona Plus discharge is the most suitable and inexpensive treatment for plastic film, cables and tubes. The blue corona discharge is easy to control and the equipment requires little maintenance.

During the corona treatment, electrons are accelerated into the surface of the plastic, causing the long chains to rupture, which produce a multiplicity of open valences. The ozone from the electrical discharge creates an oxygenation, which in turn forms new carbonyl groups with a higher surface energy. 

With our modern patented resonant circuit and feedback system, the essential properties of the material are maintained. Less than 0.1 um of the plastics is affected by the electrons.

The type of material and size of the area of film that needs treatment will determine the required power from the generator. The remote control panel will allow you to switch between these readout modes: 1)  read the actual generator power output in kW or  2) read the energy delivered to substrate in Watt x min/m2. Both values are adjustable directly from the remote control panel.
