The Customer
CeDo is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers and distributors of household disposable products. The company, which primarily focuses on label products, supplies to most of the leading retail
stores in Europe and also produces goods under its own brand names.
The Product
The company is renowned for its range of refuse sacks and bio bags, food, freezer and sandwich bags, as well as aluminium foils and cling films.
CeDo products now have a presence in most of continental Europe as well as the UK
The Problem
To improve the quality of the 80,000 tonnes of PE bags and aluminium foil and cling film produced each year at its main manufacturing plant in Wroclaw, Poland, and raise the profile of its own Paclan and Poly-Lina brands.
Previous manufacturing practice
Running 78 high-speed production lines with web widths between 300mm and 1,500mm without any pre-treatment of the substrate.
The solution
After detailed studies and trials to evaluate the beneficial effect of surface treatment, Vetaphone was chosen as the preferred supplier because of its ability to design and adapt its technology to CeDo’s specific requirements.
In the period to 2015, a total of 10 Vetaphone Corona systems were installed and a further 9 were added between 2015 and 2017. These included four systems type VE1B-A (PF2-10) 1520 QC station and 1.5 kW generator, three systems type VE1B-A (DS)620 QC, with a specially design station with 1 kW generator, and two systems type VE1B-A (DS)1120 QC station and 1.5 kW generator.
The result
More than 25% of all output from the Polish plant now receives Vetaphone Corona surface treatment, and its reliability has removed one of the variables from a production environment that operates on a 24/7 basis.
According to CeDo, Vetaphone’s wealth of knowledge and ongoing technical support have played a major part in the success and growth of the Wroclaw facility.
