The Customer
Kung Hsing (KS) is a leading Taiwanese manufacturer of extrusion technology.
Founded in 1972 by Chin-Lien Tsai, the current President, the company now spans the globe with sales and service representation and has equipment installed in 120 countries. It employs more than 90 people in three factory sites where the emphasis is on quality.
The Product
KS manufactures six different extrusion lines for blown film, from the top of the range Multi-Layer Co-Extrusion High Speed model, capable of up to nine-layer co-extrusion and multi-layer HDPE ABA and ABC, to the Economical E-Type HDPE/LDPE High Speed line, and a Polypropylene High-Speed line. There are also Monofilament machines making Nylon, PET and PP/PE, and a range of plastic recycling machines.
The problem
The company was unable to meet the quality expectations of its customers with some of its existing ancillary equipment suppliers, and this was reflecting badly on its reputation in the market.
Previous manufacturing practice
Locally sourced Asian manufactured Corona technology was proving unreliable and short-lived in the harsh working environment of daily commercial operation.
The solution
By establishing a close synergy with Vetaphone, KS was able to work with another family business that could draw on a wealth of knowledge and expertise and is committed to customer support that goes far beyond installation. This enabled KS to respond to the specific requests of its customers with the confidence that it could rely on the performance of its surface treatment partner.
The result
Customers now need only one Vetaphone Corona system for the entire working life of their KS machine, instead of having to replace it every few years. The company’s reputation for top quality has been restored and customers enjoy a better total cost of ownership that brings repeat business.
